Case Studies
How Novoclad's insulation and cladding teams solve real problems on UAE oil & gas, marine, water treatment, cold storage and freezone sites.
Insulation case studies from across the UAE
Since 2022, Novoclad's crews have worked on insulation and cladding scopes across all seven emirates, in sectors ranging from oil & gas refining to marine and cold storage. Most of our client agreements are confidential, so the projects below are presented by sector, location and scope rather than by client name — the challenges, methods and outcomes described are real.
Oil & Gas · Hot Insulation & Cladding
Lubricant Refinery Insulation
The aim for this project was to keep hot process piping and equipment at safe surface temperatures and full thermal efficiency, under the continuous operating heat of a live refinery — without disrupting production.
Process piping and equipment needed high-temperature insulation able to withstand continuous operating heat, while meeting the refinery's strict site-access and safety standards for work on a live process facility.
Novoclad's specialist hot insulation crew, certified for site access at live process facilities, executed hot insulation and metal cladding across process lines and equipment, sequencing work around ongoing plant operations.
The scope was handed over in line with the client's commissioning schedule, with insulation and cladding meeting the plant's thermal-efficiency and safety requirements.
Power Generation · Hot & Cold Insulation
Power Plant Insulation
The aim for this project was to deliver both high-temperature and low-temperature insulation systems under a single coordinated scope, without the client having to manage two separate mobilisations.
The facility needed high-temperature insulation on turbine and steam lines and low-temperature insulation on adjacent cooling systems, within one coordinated scope and program.
A combined hot and cold insulation crew applied mineral wool and cladding to hot lines and closed-cell insulation to chilled systems, working under Novoclad's CICPA site-access approval for Abu Dhabi facilities.
Both insulation systems were delivered under a single mobilisation, reducing coordination overhead for the client's site team.
Oil & Gas · Cryogenic Insulation
LNG & Gas Processing Terminal
The aim for this project was to protect cryogenic process lines from moisture ingress over a long service life, in a climate where humidity and heat both work against insulation integrity.
Cryogenic process lines carrying sub-zero fluids required insulation engineered to prevent moisture ingress and maintain vapour-barrier integrity over a long service life.
Novoclad's cryogenic insulation team installed multi-layer, vapour-sealed insulation systems on the terminal's low-temperature lines, following manufacturer-specified application methods.
The insulation systems were installed to the terminal's technical specification and passed client inspection ahead of commissioning.
Marine & Offshore · Personnel Protection
Large-Diameter Pipe Personnel Protection
The aim for this project was to protect personnel working around large-diameter process piping on an offshore platform, without restricting the access crews needed for routine inspection and maintenance.
Large-diameter hot piping on the offshore platform posed a burn-hazard risk to personnel working nearby, while the marine environment demanded jacketing resistant to salt-air corrosion and frequent handling.
Novoclad fabricated and installed removable personnel-protection jackets sized for the large-diameter piping runs, using corrosion-resistant materials suited to continuous offshore exposure and designed for quick removal during maintenance.
Exposed hot surfaces along the piping runs were brought within safe-touch temperature limits, while maintenance crews retained fast access for inspection without cutting into fixed insulation.
Oil & Gas · Skid Insulation
Skid Insulation for an Oilfield Project
The aim for this project was to insulate and clad modular process skids destined for an oilfield site, so the finished insulation could survive lifting, transport and field installation without damage.
Skid-mounted equipment for an oilfield project needed to be insulated inside a Dubai freezone fabrication yard before shipment, with insulation systems robust enough to survive lifting, road transport and field installation without cracking or disbonding.
Novoclad's team insulated and clad the skids at the freezone fabrication facility using impact-resistant cladding and reinforced fixings suited to modular transport, coordinating closely with the yard's fabrication and shipping schedule.
The skids were insulated, clad and ready for shipment within the fabrication yard's program, arriving at the oilfield site with insulation intact and ready for final tie-in.
Water Infrastructure · Canvas Cloth with Foster Finish
Water Pipe Line Insulation
The aim for this project was to protect an exposed water pipeline from heat gain and surface damage using a durable canvas-cloth finish over Foster-coated insulation, suited to Dubai's outdoor conditions.
An outdoor water pipeline needed insulation that could handle direct sun exposure and temperature swings, with a tough outer finish able to survive routine site traffic and weathering without deteriorating.
Novoclad insulated the pipeline and applied a canvas-cloth wrap finished with Foster mastic coating, giving a weatherproof, durable outer layer suited to the exposed outdoor routing.
The pipeline was insulated and finished to specification, with the canvas-and-Foster system providing a resilient, weather-resistant surface for long-term outdoor service.
Petrochemical · Acoustic & Removable Jackets
Petrochemical Facility
The aim for this project was to reduce noise in sensitive process areas while keeping fast maintenance access to equipment that needed regular servicing.
Noise-sensitive process areas required acoustic insulation, while equipment needing regular maintenance access called for removable jackets rather than fixed cladding.
Working under Novoclad's CICPA site-access approval for Abu Dhabi facilities, the team supplied and installed acoustic insulation panels in designated zones, alongside custom-fabricated removable insulation jackets on valves and flanges requiring routine access.
The facility gained noise reduction in target zones, while maintenance teams retained fast access to serviced equipment without disturbing fixed insulation elsewhere.
Marine Industry · Armaflex Elastomeric Insulation
Armaflex Insulation for the Marine Industry
The aim for this project was to insulate piping and equipment in a marine setting with a flexible, closed-cell system able to handle constant vibration, moisture and confined access.
Marine piping and equipment needed insulation that could flex with vibration, resist condensation in a humid enclosed environment, and fit within the tight, irregular spaces typical of marine installations.
Novoclad installed Armaflex elastomeric closed-cell insulation across the marine scope, chosen for its flexibility, low water absorption and ease of fitting around valves, pumps and irregular pipe runs.
The insulation was fitted throughout the marine scope without disrupting surrounding equipment, delivering condensation control and vibration-tolerant performance suited to the operating environment.
Water Treatment · Acoustic Insulation & Cladding
Water Purification Plant
The aim for this project was to reduce operational noise at a water purification plant while protecting mechanical equipment with a durable, weather-ready cladding finish.
Process equipment at the plant generated noise levels that needed to be reduced for the surrounding facility, while the equipment itself required a protective cladding finish suited to a humid, chemically-treated environment.
Novoclad installed acoustic insulation panels around the noise-generating equipment and finished the scope with corrosion-resistant cladding suited to the plant's humid, chemically active atmosphere.
Noise levels around the treated equipment were reduced, and the cladding finish gave the installation a durable, weather-ready surface suited to the plant's operating environment.
Cold Storage & Logistics · Warehouse Insulation
Warehouse Cold Storage Insualtion
The aim for this project was to insulate a cold-storage warehouse to the temperature-control standard required by a major retail brand's supply chain, without interrupting live storage operations.
The warehouse needed cold-storage-grade insulation across its structure and refrigeration lines to meet the client brand's supply-chain temperature standards, while work had to be sequenced around an operating storage facility.
Novoclad installed insulation systems suited to sustained cold-storage conditions across the warehouse envelope and refrigeration piping, phasing the work to keep the facility operational throughout.
The warehouse met the required cold-storage insulation standard, delivered without disrupting the client's ongoing storage and distribution operations.
